Replacement Forest Stewardship Plan

Canadian Forest Products Ltd., Carrier Lumber Ltd., Takla Track & Timber Ltd., Fort St. James Forest Products and Dunkley Lumber Ltd are in the process of preparing a replacement to their multi-District Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP). The replacement FSP 3 will replace the current FSP 2 which was approved in November 2017 and most recently amended in October 2021.

Under a new FSP, all the results, strategies and measures used to achieve the objectives set by government are eligible for review and comment. Given the extensive review and revision of the existing FSP 2 that has occurred over the five years since its approval, the licensees anticipate that most of the changes to the plan will be around the following content:

FSP Section 5.11 – Objectives Set by Government for Cultural Heritage Resources – revisions to ensure process reflects opportunities for engagement on Community Forest Agreements

Appendix B – Uneven aged Stocking Standard: addition for ICH vk 2 BEC unit
Appendix C – Enhanced Stocking Standards: specify minimum planting density (stems per hectare) for enhanced stocking standards
Appendix F – Block Specific Stocking Standards for Commercial Thinning Blocks: revisions to basal area removal threshold

Other sections of the FSP, including Results/Strategies, will be revised as necessary.

Comments and inquiries regarding the development of the FSP are welcome throughout the rewrite process.
